Art Practical: Oil Painting for Beginners and Improvers

Learners will work with the tutor to improve confidence in their ability to develop their artistic ̨swag and creativity within oil painting. You will be developing the ̨swag to create a detailed landscape painting; challenging yourself to try new and different subjects. You will learn using a range of different teaching and learning activities, to include watching and following step by step demonstrations, with one-to-one help and guidance from a friendly and encouraging tutor. Art Practical: Beginners' - Creative Painting

To introduce students to painting in acrylics and take them to a higher level and begin to develop their ̨swag. This course is accessible to beginners but also provides an ideal stepping stone towards intermediate levels. With step-by-step instructions, demonstrations and handouts, students can build their ̨swag with confidence. Students are supported throughout the course by a process of constructive assessment. Craft: Seasonal Painting and Drawing

This course will be delivered through a combination of studio sessions, demonstrations, discussions, outdoor sketching excursions (weather permitting), and critiques. Hand-Built Ceramics - Beginners

This creative hand clay course allows you to explore your art and craft ̨swag to find ceramic practices that you enjoy. Whether you like drawing, painting, origami, ceramics or craft-making, art courses can help you find a relaxing hobby. This creative hand building clay course is ideal if you want to feel calm while developing your creativity ̨swag up to an intermediate level. You can learn the ̨swag and techniques needed to produce your own clay pieces, and explore the tools and materials required and take inspiration from other creators, all whilst being guided by an experienced WEA tutor. Your artwork will be uploaded to Canvas (our digital learning platform) as evidence of learning and you get to keep everything you make. Art Practical: Learn to Draw Animals

We will learn how to draw chosen animal portraits (students can get to draw their own pets or those of friends) in pencil, charcoal with white pastel for highlights, pen and coloured pencils and pastels. Art Practical: Advanced Artwork Development

During this friendly and supportive course you will continue to generate new works of art by scaling up and developing the ideas collected during your art practice and in your sketchbook during the autumn and spring terms.
