All our creative writing courses look at different audiences and genres such as scriptwriting, non-fiction and poetry.

Our poetry courses immerse you in the works of famous poets and literary greats, exploring the techniques they use and their famous pieces of work. All this acts as the perfect inspiration for when you craft your own style. This learning style means you build the core foundations to progress further, becoming a better writer in the process.

Literature: Exploring Form in Poetry

Over the 10-week period, you鈥檒l pay close attention to 10 different poetic forms such as, including the nocturne, haibun, prose poem, villanelle, golden shovel, pantoum, epistle, elegy, acrostic, couplet, ekphrastic, through close readings of selected verses, you鈥檒l explore formal context and development in relation to your own work. You鈥檒l also participate in lively discussions regarding formal aspects and question the use of techniques and experimentation. Prompts will be provided to support you with drafting your formal piece and you鈥檒l be encouraged to continue your work at home in between sessions. Openness is encouraged but you won鈥檛 be asked to share more than you are comfortable with. Connect to and support a writing community.
